Gezel ("we", "us") is an event discovery and social planning app for Amsterdam. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how you can control it.
Your data is used solely to operate Gezel — to show you events, let you organise and share plans, and connect you with friends. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or any purpose outside of operating the app.
Your data is stored on servers in the EU (Hetzner, Germany). We use industry-standard practices including HTTPS, hashed passwords, and JWT authentication.
Push notifications are sent via Expo's push notification service (Expo Notifications). We only send you notifications for activity directly related to your Zellies and friends. You can disable notifications in the app settings at any time.
You can permanently delete your account at any time from the app's settings. Deleting your account removes your profile, all your Zellies, your RSVPs, and your friend connections. This action is irreversible.
If you cannot access the app, you can also request deletion by emailing privacy@gezel.amsterdam from the backup email address associated with your account.
Gezel is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify users in the app.
